Making Independent Optometry A More Collective Experience The AIO is the only Association for Independent Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians and is a registered provider of CET. For over 50 years, we have met and learned from each other and from internationally renowned speakers at our conferences within the UK and around the world. These are arranged by our members and are held in pleasant locations, annually in the UK, and overseas at approximately 2 yearly intervals.
Members from all over the country also find they learn almost as much from the conversation at a lively dinner table as from the formal proceedings. FORTHCOMING EVENTS Oct 2012 The 2012 conference is being held at Cottons Hotel & Spa in the stylish Cheshire town of Knutsford. May 2013 Four countries, three rivers and the fascinating Main Danube Canal are the basis of this memorable 12 day cruise. AIO Membership Membership is open to GOC registered optometrists and dispensing opticians in independent practice. AIO produces regular Newsletters which include conference reports, details of forthcoming events and topical articles of interest to the Independent Practitioner. The AIO egroup is the way to keep in touch with your fellow Independent all the year round. AIO also organises low key benchmarking surveys. But most importantly AIO gives reassurance and friendship to its membership with the active support of the AOP.
